Please read carefully, Prof. Culpepper can only respond to those that abide by the following
Undergraduate Positions:
Prof. Culpepper takes on MIT undergraduate researchers (UROPS and senior thesis) on a rolling basis. He has possible projects in the design of manufacturing equipment, robotics, consumer products and compliant mechanisms. Students should inquire to discuss their interests. For types of projects we work on, see the lab’s research page.
Prof. Culpepper is unable to take on advising, mentoring or employing undergraduates that are not from MIT (e.g. from another university).
Graduate Research Assistant or Fellowship Student Positions:
Available and pending openings for 2025 are listed on the lab’s research page.
If you have been accepted to a graduate program at MIT (MechE, Electrical, Aero, etc…), congratulations! You can ask to schedule a meeting with my admin, Doug’s contact is listed on this page.
If you have NOT been accepted to a graduate program at MIT, please understand that it is not possible to field the 100s of requests we receive for meetings of this type. You must first be admitted to an MIT program.
If you are a non-MIT graduate student (at another university) and wish to be mentored by Prof. Culpepper in your work at another univeristy, please understand that it is not possible for Prof. Culpepper to take time away from current MIT students to engage in this type of activity.
High School Students
Prof. Culpepper is unable to take on advising, mentoring or employing high school students due to time constraints and MIT rules/policies. He wishes he could, but it is not possible given the time required to oversee his MIT students.
